Eagle Taekwondo Professional Instructors

All martial arts instructors at Eagle Taekwondo in Las Vegas, NV are trained to ensure that our martial arts classes are safe, effective and fun.

Our instructors and instructor assistants are trained to focus on more than just teaching martial arts skills. Eagle Taekwondo staff also are taught how to work with all students, tailoring their martial arts teaching methods to fit the individual child.

Emphasis is put on encouragement and positive correction.

We are committed to teaching the physical skills of martial arts while applying attitude-shaping exercises aimed at bringing out the best character and physical potential in each student.

Through weekly martial arts training, instructors advance their own knowledge, skills, and abilities to become even more effective martial arts teachers.

The Eagle Taekwondo instructors are required to maintain their personal level of martial arts knowledge and a high level of personal growth. They are expected to take classes on a regular basis and test at least once per year.

Grandmaster Bo Young Kim (01/11/1956 – 04/30/2008) 김보영

Grandmaster Bo Young Kim is the founder of the Eagle Tae Kwon Do Academy known for its longevity and vitality within the Las Vegas, Nevada area and established in 1986.
As a native of Seoul, South Korea, he began to study Tae Kwon Do at a very early age. Upon completing the instructor course, Grandmaster Bo Young Kim served as a Martial Arts instructor in the Republic of Korea Army and Kukkiwon Tae Kwon Do Headquarters in Korea. Grandmaster Kim held a 8th Dan Kukkiwon Black Belt and accrued over 40 years of experience in the art and discipline of Tae Kwon Do. He was honored to teach in different cultures and countries such as Seoul, Korea, Guadalajara, Mexico, and Las Vegas, Nevada. He was appointed President of Las Vegas Korean Association in the Korean community and also was international referee for the United States Tae Kwon Do Union. During his long career as a Tae Kwon Do Master, he has taught hundreds of students in the way of the black belt.

Discipline is a proven path toward the accomplishment of any goal. Respect for others, Tae Kwon Do and self, divides the lifestyle of the black belt from all other walks of life. Grandmaster Bo Young Kim’s vision was to improve society by rebuilding, enhancing, and strengthening the character of the individual’s attending the Eagle Tae Kwon Do Academy. Eagle Tae Kwon Do has a proven history of aiding many in the journey of the elite black belt class and nurturing leaders with a way to life which leads to great success.

After the tragedy of his death in 2008, the Eagle Tae Kwon Do Academy is honored to have his two dedicated, spirited and wonderful daughters to continue the academy’s achievements and the Tae Kwon Do way of life.

Head Master Helen Kim 김진숙

Master Helen Kim is a 5th Dan Black Belt (Kukkiwon World Taekwondo Federation). She started martial arts training under the instruction of her father, Grandmaster Bo Young Kim as a child. She received her black belt in 2000 and is Grandmaster Bo Young Kim’s eldest daughter. Since attaining black belt status, Master Helen Kim has continued her father’s legacy by teaching taekwondo at local Korean schools, recreational centers and other dojangs. Master Helen Kim is also a University of Nevada, Las Vegas graduate with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration and minor in Psychology (2010).Master Kim is a Kukkiwon licensed certified Instructor, USAT Certified Referee, Coach, and a USAT Certified Poomsae Referee.


Head Master Ester Kim 김진영

Master Ester Kim is a 5th Dan Black Belt (Kukkiwon World Taekwondo Federation). She is Grandmaster Bo Young Kim’s youngest daughter. Master Ester Kim started martial arts training under the instruction of her father with her older sister, Master Helen Kim. She received her black belt in 2003 and has joined her sister to continue their father’s legacy by teaching Tae Kwon Do at the Eagle Tae Kwon Do Academy.
Master Ester Kim is currently the Head Master of the Eagle Tae Kwon Do Academy. She has the passion to develop individuals and help them understand life values and obstacles that must be overcome in order to cultivate and realize true success. Master Ester Kim is also a University of Nevada, Las Vegas graduate with a Bachelor’s in Kinesiology. She currently teaches at University of Nevada Las Vegas for the physical education program course (PEX 147).
Master Ester Kim is a USAT Certified Referee, Coach, a USAT Certified Poomsae Referee and the creator of the Eagle Taekwondo Las Vegas Demo Team.
